Throat clearing and teaching without any words

Well, this week has gone by crazy fast. if the whole mission goes as fast as this week, I'll be home by next tuesday. Oh man. a lot happened, like we're practicing a new song in choir, and legits, a couple Elders and I sit on the back row of the ASL section just to ensure we get a good view of the two missionaries who are in charge of leading us fight over which signs to use. It's incredible. To quote a certain Elder Tipiani "Elder Clark is like a little lamb slathered in barbecue sauce and Sister Havram is a lion." Ya. it's pretty intense. But, don't worry about Elder Clark, he's got some fight to him, too.

We do this thing where we go full days without talking, called deaf days, and one way we ensure we don't is by putting ear plugs in. We can still hear, but it's just annoying enough that we don't forget to sign instead of talk. We did our last one on Monday, and I kept the ear buds in during lunch, and almost went deaf because chewing with ear buds in is legits the most uncomfortably loud things I've ever experienced.
Also, when getting up to sign a prayer, DO NOT CLEAR YOUR THROAT. Everyone will make fun of you for the next 2 weeks, and you won't be able to stand up to pray without the entire room erupting in throat clearings. I tell ya, no love.

Lots of awesome experiences this week!! We had the last visit with one of our "investigators" on Wednesday, and we were able to commit him to baptism. It was so incredible. and now he's going to get married and ya. good for him. So we got a new investigator. and he doesn't speak ASL. which may sound like a good thing, but it isn't. he's still completely deaf. and he can't read. so legits every lesson will just be me and Elder Nielsen playing a giant game of gospel charades while never being fully sure that he even understands what the crap we're saying. it took us legits twenty minutes to get the point across that God is our Loving Heavenly Father. Oh man. it's actually sort of super fun, it really challenges my knowledge of the gospel, like I have to break every single idea into not just it's most basic concepts, but also find a story or picture or way of showing that idea in a way he'll hopefully understand. Next lesson is going to be faith in Christ, and tell the story of peter walking on water.

Christ Walking on the Water, by Robert T. Barrett

Madeleine L'Engle has said: “Peter was able to walk on the water until he
remembered he didn't know how”

I received 20 doughnuts yesterday in the mail. They were gone within 3 minutes of opening them. My room has so much food that legits basically the entire floor finds their way to it after class just to chow down. It's getting out of hand.

I love you guys! Keep up the good work!

Boekweg and Tipiani. Because One of each just wasn't enough.

Ran into a couple of my bestest buddies this week.:):):):):):):)
